I remember reading “Grass Looks Greener On Other Side” well its a fact it just looks greener its not any better…
I mean what does a VoiceOver guy get…words written on a piece of paper and he has to dig deep into it find the context get that emotional feel in that line and phrase it….and not to forget he/she has to do it wearing a headphone in front of a mic…so there is really no other other VO guy in VO booth ha…so one just has to pretend so much and still get the things correct…

Your post really resonated with me Justin.

I’ve done voice over on the side for nearly 20 years. Radio has always been my main source of income. Until January 28, 2012. That’s the day I got downsized.

I didn’t know what to do at first. Radio jobs aren’t easy to come by in Southern Ontario, but it’s all I’ve ever done. While I tried to figure it out, I just kept putting in more time and effort on voice over.

A few months after getting laid off I realized that I was paying my bills. That’s when I started to get the confidence that maybe I really good make a go of this voice over thing full time.

It’s almost been a year now. Some months are better than others, as far as income is concerned, but I’m still plugging away.

Do I have any regrets about giving this a shot full time? Not yet. Has it been a struggle? It sure has. Have I loved every minute of it? So far!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I saw this a while ago and saved it for when I would need it and today’s the day! Got a client that requested patch and playback through Skype and this post walked me through it (still have to test yet, but setup seemed to go smoothly). You rock!

I was so excited about this, but the Windows version (as stated above) looks COMPLETELY different and isn’t very user-friendly, at all. Oh well… thanks anyway!
