Jeremy Pool was born in Chicago and grew up in Saint Paul. He attended St. Paul Central High School and Macalester College, before attending Emory University in Atlanta for his graduate training in History. He received his PhD from Emory in African History in 2009. His dissertation, "Now Is the Time of Youth: Youth, Nationalism, and Cultural Change in Ghana, 1940-1966," was supported by a Fulbright-IIE research grant and additional funding from the History Department of Emory University. He has taught in the History Department at NHCC since 2016. He lives with his family in Saint Paul and enjoys cooking and gardening.
