The 海角社区 Food Cupboard is a community funded resource available to all NHCC and partnering university students. We are a resource available for students who need to supplement their household food needs. We are here to support academic achievement through nourishment.
How It Works
Visitors can receive Groceries and Kitchen Coalition Meals when visiting the Food Cupboard.
- Groceries: We strongly encourage visitors to make use of the Food Cupboard once per week to pick up grocery items as you leave campus for the day. This recommendation is in place to ensure that there is fair distribution and to accommodate as many individuals and families as possible.
- Kitchen Coalition Meals: We are proud to partner with Kitchen Coalition, an initiative through Second Harvest Heartland that provides freshly prepared meals to the NHCC community. Visitors can receive 10 Kitchen Coalition Meals per person in their household, per week, on a first come first served basis. Meals arrive on Tuesday afternoons.
If you are unable to pick up the items you need in one visit, please contact us at foodcupboard@nhcc.edu or 763-493-0502!
- During your first visit to the Food Cupboard, we ask that you complete a brief registration form due to our participation in . This form will ask for your Name, Address, Household Size, and self-declaration of program eligibility. This is an annual form and we ask that participants complete this form during their first visit and on an annual basis.
- Once you are registered, you can select your food, meals, and other items available in the Food Cupboard. You will see signage around the Food Cupboard that provides guidance as to how many choices you may take from each category of food.
- When you are ready to checkout, a Food Cupboard staff member will ask you to weigh your items on the scale and to provide your STARID number. If you don鈥檛 know your STARID, we can look this up for you.
- There are grocery bags for you to use at your convenience. If you need assistance packing your items, please notify a staff member.

Hunger Free Campus
海角社区 is a Hunger Free Campus. The Minnesota State Legislature passed the Hunger Free Campus Act in 2019 and it鈥檚 an initiative by LeadMN to address food insecurity on community and technical colleges.
